Melody Gardot

Melody Gardot is an up and coming jazz singer who has an amazing voice. Melody was became disabled after a car hit her bicycle when she was 19 and that accident led to her career into music.

Her song Worrisome Heart is absolutely beautiful and reminds you of what great jazz vocal really is. I am totally diggin’ this song right now. Her entire album is a breath fo fresh air for anyone who loves vocal jazz.

You can read more below about her injuries. This excerpt is from Wikipedia:

There are many variables that make performing nearly impossible for the young songstress. Still in her early twenties, Melody Gardot carries a cane and must wear dark glasses. She often has a little black box tied to her waist; called a TENS unit, it is used to alleviate neuralgic pain/muscle pain. She sits on a specialized chair while performing due to pelvic fractures sustained in the accident. Her pelvis remains misaligned, and she also suffers from an autonomic nervous system dysfunction, causing hypersensitivity to noise and sound.

Her ability to overcome her physical limitations and her ability to write and perform despite her pain, makes her an inspiration.

Melody Gardot truly is an inspiration to all of us and her voice sounds so bluesy it’s delicious! I hope to hear more wonderful things from this wonderful artist!

Lyrics: Worrisome Heart By Melody Gardot

I need a hand with my worrisome heart
I need a hand with my worrisome heart
I would be lucky to find me a man
Who could love me the way that I am
With this here worrisome heart
I need a break from my troubling ways
I need a break from my troubling ways
I would be lucky to find me a man
Who could love me the way that I am
With all my troubling ways
I need a man who got no baggage to claim
I need a man who got no baggage to claim
I would be lucky to find me a man
Who could love me the way that I am
A worrisome troubling baggage free modern day dame,
Said a worrisome troubling baggage free modern day dame
Ain’t no body the same
