No don’t dump him and move back to Ohio. Just dump him and come to hang out with me in Hollywood a few miles north. I moved to this Shithole from the Midwest about 7 months ago for school. The place would be ok if you removed the people and anything associated with people. They are the worst drivers on the planet and I think they think the opposite. I constantly get passed while going at or above the speed limit in residential roads where passing is pretty much unnecessary under any circumstances. I usually just speed up and pretend I’m not really paying attention while hoping the dumbfuck will crash and die. The girls here are not great looking at all and the ones that are have complete shit personalities so it’s not worth it. Where as where I’m from you can find beauty and brains while not having a bitch. I still say please and thank you and usually I get a response of silence which makes me think they’re usually thinking wtf? I constantly get asked for money and I’ve recently discovered a genius way of not giving them shit. Since you can tell who is gonna ask you for money since they are generally asking everyone for money or they just look like they we’d probably conceived in a dumpster I ask them for money first. It’s GREAT. They usually don’t have anything to offer but that’s not exactly the point. Hmm what else sucks about this place. The biggest disappointment for me was picking this “paradise” over other places I could of gone to school. The girls are a huge disappointment. I thought it would be fun to live here. It has proven to suck ass. My favorite thing about SoFla is the combination of casinos that have poker and dumb fucking idiots. You can basically go there and dumbasses will hand you money. It’s great. I expected to get a job when moving here but thanks to stupid Floridians that hasn’t been necessary. I’m not even good at poker. I’m just halfway intelligent. Well anyways, can’t wait to finish school so I can move to a real state and leave this classless shitland behind.
PS I have met a couple decent people here. 1 gay guy from Argentina, 1 straight guy from Montana but the vast majority of people here a complete shit. I’m sure there are more reasonable people, but they are highly outweighed by the contrary.

Leave him and leave Florida! I’ve been here 3 years and it’s been a nightmare! America needs to take back Florida before it really too late. This is the worst place in the world and I’m getting out of here asap. The men here are horrible and very shallow. You can do better!

It is such a relief to find this site. I moved to Miami from southern California almost one year ago, because this is where my Cuban fiancé is from. I’m originally from Ohio. We decided to move here for two reasons, 1- he has a paralyzed brother who he feels he needs to help his family take care of, & 2- We thought it would be preferable to Ohio. I have been struggling ever since I moved here, and thanks to this post I finally have the words to articulate why I despise living here.
The people are so incredibly rude. Every time I leave the house I experience confrontation. Whether its while driving, because the drivers here are moronic, or whether it’s at the store because some cocky Latino cut me in line. I can’t stand it. The friends that I have made here have proven themselves to be selfish and manipulative. The worst part is, when I try to talk to my fiancé about my unhappiness here, he flat out ignores me, or brushes it off. He says I haven’t given it a chance. But I know the longer I stay the more I’m going to hate it. I want so badly to move back home to Ohio. I’m finishing my degree in teaching and I know I would rather teach in Ohio. I have family here that doesn’t snub me, or be blatantly rude to me for not speaking fluent Spanish. The people here are so much nicer and down to Earth. But my I know if I decide to leave my fiancé wont come with me. I don’t know what to do. I think that in order to live in Miami I would have to change who I am. Become rude, pushy, bossy. I would have to have attitude every god damn day just so someone doesn’t cut me line. I hate Miami with a passion. Should I leave even if means breaking my engagement?

I’m originally from the midwest. While people my age (college student) didn’t have a lot to do up there, at least they were open-minded enough to come up with new things to do that are actually fun and at least people could talk to each other and make friends with each other. Down here in Florida – guess what? Everyone just either plays video games, smokes pot, or surfs. Everything else costs way too much money or time – for instance – want to go paintballing? Sorry! Can’t do that without sacrificing all of your study time and money because you MUST play in a f*cking tournament! Because of me having no money (read: college student) I literally can’t do ANYTHING with anyone my age that interests me in the least. At all. There’s nothing for me here. I can’t even get my new “friends” to hang out with me because they have some stupid ass reason for not being able to come over to my place. The only reason that I have seen people my age get together for is doing drugs or alcohol, which I want no part of. F*ck this place. I’m bored as hell because nobody will do anything fun down here. Oh, and the women (read: most) are monsters down here. They’ll eat you alive.

So… taking that into account, all my life includes is getting out of bed, going to school, studying, coming home, studying more, repeat. I’m going to go f*cking crazy one of these days. I have never felt so alone in my life.

The biggest load of hogwash is that certain celebrities think south florida,and in particular south beach is cool.This region is the epitome of UNCOOL.No cool music scene,phony,superficial people and the worst terrain in the country.I find it hard to believe they film tv shows and movies here.This has to be the most low conscienceness region in the country.You want good places;Try boulder colorado,berkeley california,austin texas,madison wisconsin,athens georgia and alot of new york state.There are many others i can think of and south florida is definately not one of them.THE most unfriendly people in the united states bar none.

I lived in South Florida for 4 months and recently moved back to Michigan. South Florida is the worst place on earth. I’d rather live in Kabul. I had some friends that moved there several years ago and talked me into moving there. What a mistake. They all regressed and now fit in with the other pieces of shit that live there. The worst part of living there was the people. It is too hot, there is absolutely no culture of any kind and you have to live in a cesspool. I will never step foot in that state ever again.

Just moved from the midwest and Wife is already very home sick! We will be on the first job out! At least I can say i lived here where a lot of midwest folks think is pretty cool. If they only knew, I will shed some light to them when we get out.

Funnt list but you left out the concrete medians, the awful strip malls every 200 ft. The total lack of good roads if you’re a car enthusiast. I love the 6 lanes of traffic 30 cars deep at every light. The blasted drawbridge waits, the A/C draining my motor, no wonder everyone has big torquey engines and automatic transmissions down here!
