8 Free Converse iPhone Wallpapers

20. May 2010 · Filed under: Photos · 3 Comments

I love Converse sneakers. I spend countless hours looking at photos with Converse sneakers in them. There are groups devoted to Converse sneakers on Flickr. How do I know this? Because Converse is my porn.

There is nothing hotter than a pair of Chucks, so I decided to create some iPhone wallpapers for all you other Converse fans out there. All of these photos are licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution-Noncommercial-Share Alike 2.0 License.

  • Each photo was edited by me for use as a wallpaper for your iPhone.
  • Each photo is given credit to the original photographer.

The Genesis of Butterflies

14. May 2010 · Filed under: Photos, Poetry · 3 Comments

The Genesis of Butterflies by Victor Hugo (1802 – 1885)

The dawn is smiling on the dew that covers
The tearful roses; lo, the little lovers
That kiss the buds, and all the flutterings
In jasmine bloom, and privet, of white wings,
That go and come, and fly, and peep and hide,
With muffled music, murmured far and wide.
Ah, the Spring time, when we think of all the lays
That dreamy lovers send to dreamy mays,
Of the fond hearts within a billet bound,
Of all the soft silk paper that pens wound,
The messages of love that mortals write
Filled with intoxication of delight,
Written in April and before the May time
Shredded and flown, playthings for the wind’s playtime,
We dream that all white butterflies above,
Who seek through clouds or waters souls to love,
And leave their lady mistress in despair,
To flit to flowers, as kinder and more fair,
Are but torn love-letters, that through the skies
Flutter, and float, and change to butterflies.

Where’s The Music Gone?

19. November 2009 · Filed under: Music, Photos · 1 Comment

Today it's all about the video.

Sometimes you don’t really need to say anything when a song can say it for you. Music by the lovely Leela James sums up my feelings about a lot of things going on in the music industry that I don’t like. Listen here and you can read the lyrics after the jump.

Groovin’ to Romain Laurent

Romain Laurent is an awesome photographer/artist. I like the different themes and concepts he uses in his images, and they go beyond just an ordinary image to become art. To check out more photos from Romain, check out his website.

And tulips, children love to stretch
Their fingers down, to feel in each
Its beauty’s sweet nearer. – Elizabeth Barrett Browning

I Love Post Secret

I really love reading all the “secrets” at Post Secret. I especially loved this one this week. I can so relate to this. Some people just don’t like hearing the truth.

Pink Peonies

18. September 2008 · Filed under: Photos, Poetry · 2 Comments

The peonies are hung-over again,
dew-drunk from loitering in the moonlight,
after taunting the crab apples and redbuds
for having bloomed too soon after the snow.

Lashing out at the daylilies for their dysfunctional
shriveling from a single day of romance with sunlight,
and castigating those whores, the crocus, for being teased
into blossom by a few warm February rays, has become a ritual.

The mornings are now beautiful sermons.
On a manger of mulch, the peonies seem
to be sleeping. Through the sip and swallow of my hot coffee
I thought I heard a hiss or whisper.

It may have been the dogwood,
perhaps the hydrangea, saying to the lilac,
“Look at those pink dumb-asses.
That’s what happens when you get a big head.”
