Tyler Durden Quote

“Warning: If you are reading this then this warning is for you. Every word you read of this useless fine print is another second off your life. Don’t you have other things to do? Is your life so empty that you honestly can’t think of a better way to spend these moments? Or are you so impressed with authority that you give respect and credence to all that claim it? Do you read everything you’re supposed to read? Do you think every thing you’re supposed to think? Buy what you’re told to want? Get out of your apartment. Meet a member of the opposite sex. Stop the excessive shopping and masturbation. Quit your job. Start a fight. Prove you’re alive. If you don’t claim your humanity you will become a statistic. You have been warned.” – Tyler Durden, from the movie Fight Club, based on the book Fight Club by Chuck Palahniuk

Blogging Without Obligation

10. September 2008 · Filed under: BlahBlahBlog · 4 Comments

In case you haven’t noticed, I blog when I want to. I blog when I feel like it and I don’t blog if I don’t. This is my blog and I will do as I damn well please. I know that some readers want constant content or they drift, but if they don’t care enough to revisit my blog, I don’t give a shit. This is my space and I’ll blog if I want to!

Also, if you have ever been to my old blog, you would have seen advertisements from Google and other affiliates I worked with, like iTunes, etc. I got tired of my blog being littered with ads and not seeing any money from it. I mean, I made some, but not enough to collect a check because you have to earn a certain amount first. Also, you have to post within their guidelines, and I couldn’t use profanity, etc. I mean, if I want to say fuck, shit, cock, motherfucker, etc., then it’s my blog and I want to say it! So this blog is ad free and will stay that way. This is my place and I don’t need someone censoring me so I can make a few cents that I won’t see anyways.

:) So here I am, blogging without obligation or ads and not giving a shit, and I couldn’t be happier!

Update: Yeah, I am using ads again. Fuck off about it.

Hi! My Name is Veronika!

I read the book Veronika Decides To Die by Paulo Coelho a few years ago after I was discussing my life with a friend and they said I reminded them of the lead character Veronika. I took them up on their advice and I am so grateful for it. It is a great book and if you are ever thinking that your life will never change or if you feel like life is just a bunch of nonsense, I totally recommend this book!

I completely related to the character and when I finished reading the book, I took something away from it. Below is an excerpt of the first chapter. If you can relate to this small part, read this book!

Salvador Dali Quote

“Mistakes are almost always of a sacred nature. Never try to correct them. On the contrary: rationalize them, understand them thoroughly. After that, it will be possible for you to sublimate them.” – Salvador Dali (1904 – 1989)

Robert Frost – The Road Not Taken

08. September 2008 · Filed under: Poetry · 2 Comments

The poem The Road Not Taken by Robert Frost is one of the greats by a wonderful poet and playwright. It’s definitely one of my favorites. It has a special place in my heart as it has helped me through some hard times. I included a beautiful photo I found on stock.xchng that I thought would compliment it beautifully.

The Road Not Taken

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;

Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,

And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I–
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

Girls Are Like…

Girls are like
apples on trees. The best
ones are at the top of the tree.
The boys don’t want to reach for
the good ones because they are afraid
of falling and getting hurt. Instead, they
just get the rotten apples from the ground
that aren’t as good, but easy. So the apples
at the top think something is wrong with
them, when in reality, they’re amazing.
They just have to wait for the right
boy to come along, the one
who’s brave enough

to climb
all the way
to the top
of the tree.

Found this on Stumble a while back.

Almost Moved In!

04. September 2008 · Filed under: BlahBlahBlog · 2 Comments

Phew! I am almost done moving! We have everything moved over to the new apartment and I am still unpacking. I’ve already transferred services and my cable, home phone, & internet will be connected this Sunday morning!

Since Comcast had to verify our address-even though we are only moving one apartment over-we had to wait to get an appointment but luckily we got an appointment sooner than expected! Last time it took 3 weeks to verify the address and I was mooching wi-fi from the neighbor who moved out of this apartment. I have no shame in “stealing” wi-fi if someone is dumb enough to leave their internet unsecured. Especially since this is the same neighbor who abused and neglected his dog and the same one I rescued the bearded dragon from.

The only things left to do is clean the old apartment, which will be done in the next hour, and change my address for all my bills. Oh, yeah… and get the rest of my stuff out of storage now that I have the space. Now I just have to convince my dad to help us with his big truck to get my over-sized couch since it obviously won’t fit in my Mitsubishi Lancer.

:) And you know what? My pets love the new place, and if they are happy, so am I!

Maya Angelou – Alone

30. August 2008 · Filed under: Poetry · Leave a Comment

This is a great poem by Maya Angelou. I think this is a poem everyone can relate to.

Lying, thinking
Last night
How to find my soul a home
Where water is not thirsty
And bread loaf is not stone
I came up with one thing
And I don’t believe I’m wrong
That nobody,
But nobody
Can make it out here alone.

Alone, all alone
Nobody, but nobody
Can make it out here alone.

There are some millionaires
With money they can’t use
Their wives run round like banshees
Their children sing the blues
They’ve got expensive doctors
To cure their hearts of stone.
But nobody
No, nobody
Can make it out here alone.

Alone, all alone
Nobody, but nobody
Can make it out here alone.

Now if you listen closely
I’ll tell you what I know
Storm clouds are gathering
The wind is gonna blow
The race of man is suffering
And I can hear the moan,
‘Cause nobody,
But nobody
Can make it out here alone.

Alone, all alone
Nobody, but nobody
Can make it out here alone.

Beauty & The Beast

13. August 2008 · Filed under: BlahBlahBlog · 1 Comment

So, did you hear the story about the little girl at the Olympics who lip-synced the song in the opening ceremony because the real singer wasn’t pretty enough? Sadly, this is a true story. Little 7-year-old Yang Peiyi was deemed “not cute enough” by the Chinese government and they instead chose 9-year-old Lin Miaoke to lip-sync the song “Ode to the Motherland”.

“The reason was for the national interest,” said Chen Qigang, the ceremony’s musical director, in a state radio interview. “The child on camera should be flawless in image, internal feeling and expression. … Lin Miaoke is excellent in those aspects.”

The decision was made at the highest levels, Chen said.

“We had to do it,” he said. “We’d been through several inspections. They’re all very strict. When we rehearsed at the spot, there were several spectators from various divisions, especially leaders from the Politburo, who gave the opinion it must change.”

While this really shouldn’t come as a surprise, given how the beast the public likes their celebrities “beautiful”, it’s sad to see this at the Olympics, where beauty is not something that qualifies you to participate. I find it sad that little Yang Peiyi had to be told at such a tender age that she wasn’t pretty or “cute” enough to be shown to the world. Hopefully she won’t grow up thinking that she isn’t as beautiful as any other little girl. I myself think she is adorable.

As for Yang Peiyi, she’s been quoted as saying she was honored to have had a role in the opening ceremony, even though few realized just how big her part really was.

Yang Peiyi, now everyone knows how big your part was and how beautiful you really are.
